At Interfusion Dance Studio, we’ve been helping Auckland stay stylish on the dance floor since opening our doors in 2011. Our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching dance classes and performing various styles and disciplines. We have a passion for the art of dance and for helping others discover their inner dancer.
Director and Instructor
Chanelle’s love for dancing started at the young age of 3 in South Africa. At the age of 5 he joined the PACT ballet school of dance where she learnt ballet, character and free movement. She also took part in different staged shows like Nutcracker, Spartacus, Sleeping Beauty with the PACT Ballet Company. In 2002 Chanelle got accepted into the Youth Dance Company of Tshwane where she worked her way from being part of the corps de ballet to soloist to principle ballerina. She also won a number of awards during her time in South Africa. In 2006 she had the honour of being Cinderella in the staged production of Cinderella. She trained in the Royal Academy of dancing syllabus where she completed all grades up to Advance 2. In her years of dance, although ballet was her main focus, she did jazz, hip hop, modern dancing and contemporary. At the end of 2007 Chanelle finished school and went on to audition for the South African Ballet Company where she was one of five accepted. In 2011 she brought Interfusion Dance Studio to continue following her dance dream. Chanelle has a range of dance qualifications including Royal Academy of Dance teachers, Acrobatic Arts qualified, International Dance Technique teachers, Progressing Ballet technique teachers. Asia Pacific Dance Association Teachers. Chanelle has adjudicated competitions and been an Examiner for Acro Dance. Chanelle prides herself in teaching strong, correct dance technique while staying true to each individuals abilities. Chanelle is passionate about seeing her students grow in confidences, mature as individuals and naturing each student into beautiful dancer.
Preschool, Jazz, Adult, Contemporary and Acrobatics Teacher
Julia was born in South Africa and started dancing at the age of 3. She then went on to do gymnastics at the Boksburg Gym & Tumbling Club for five years. Julia immigrated to New Zealand in 2008. Where she competitively danced hip hop and musical theatre through Dance Express for two years. Julia joined Interfusion Dance Studio in 2012, where she has since been training under Chanelle. She has been trained in a range of styles including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, acrobatics and tap. Since joining she has performed as a lead in each end of year show and has competed in troupes, duets and solos. Julia received her dance teachers certificate in Jazz in 2018. In 2019 she completed her Module 1 teachers certification in Acrobatic Arts. Julia loves to create a dance environment where her students feel inspired and have the opportunity to reach and surpass their goals.
Jazz and Contemporary Teacher
Abbie (Ngāi Tahu) graduated Unitec in 2018 where she studied a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance. She started jazz training at the age of 5 before expanding her knowledge to hip hop and contemporary dance. Now with a knowledge in a range of dance styles and other performance elements she is a dynamic teacher, choreographer and performer. She has completed all levels of NZAMD jazz and hip hop including the solo performance diploma. Abbie has been performing and working professionally for the last 2 and a half years. Working in a range of roles including Dancer, Marketing and Production Co-ordinator and Stage Manager on various projects. Abbie’s intention in class is to help each student reach their full potential while learning how their body can move in dynamic and safe ways. She loves playing diverse music each lesson for an awesome, fun and engaging atmosphere.
Ballet and Progressing Ballet Technique
Kimberley has been dancing for over 40 years and is very passionate about safe dance practices, ballet technique, conditioning and choreography. She was trained in RAD ballet to Advanced, and NZ modern. She has been a regular competitor, performer and seminar attendee all around NZ and at 18 she studied full time Contemporary dance at The Performing Arts School. She continues to dance and perform whenever she gets the opportunity. Kimberley has choreographed for many musical theatre productions and in 2012 she competed nationally in Figure and Fitness NZIFBB competitions, winning regional titles in both categories. Kimberley is a Level 2 Certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) Teacher, having completed courses in Auckland and Sydney. She has completed renowned Dance Physiotherapist Lisa Howell’s 3 day intensive Dance Teacher Training in Sydney. She produces her own digital cue cards which she sells online to dance teachers from all around the world under her brand Échappé to Dance!
