Chanelle Mansell – Director/ Head Teacher

Chanelle was born in South Africa where she started dancing at the age of 3. At the age of 5 she joined the PACT ballet school of dance where she learnt ballet, character and free movement. She also took part in different staged shows like Nutcracker, Spartacus, Sleeping Beauty with the PACT Ballet Company. In 2002 Chanelle got accepted into the Youth Dance Company of Tshwane where she worked her way from being part of the corps de ballet to soloist to principle ballerina. In 2006 she had the honour of being Cinderella in the staged production of Cinderella. She trained in the Royal Academy of dancing syllabus where she completed all grades up to Advance 2. In her years of dance, although ballet was her main focus, she did jazz, hip hop, modern dancing and contemporary. She also had dance as a subject at school where dance anatomy and history was a requirement. At the end of 2007 Chanelle finished school and went on to audition for the South African Ballet Company where only 5 people a year got accepted. She was one of the very lucky dancers to get chosen. Unfortunately she was unable to accept the placement as she moved to New Zealand with her family. This was a very difficult decision because dancing for the company was her biggest dream. Between 2007 and 2010 she danced at a range of different events and competitions qualifying for the world champs in America. In 2010 she started teaching ballet for Kim Hoeft Dance Studio. In 2011 she was asked to buy Kim Hoeft Dance Studio which, is now known as Interfusion Dance Studio. Chanelle has since completed her RAD teachers and is also qualified to teach Acrobatic Arts up to Module 5. She has also done her teachers trial in Progressing Ballet Technique. Last year Chanelle was invited to be an examiner at a studio in Auckland and to adjudicate a competition in Tauranga. She will continue to improve herself to offer the best training to all students and up coming teachers. 

Claire Verity - Musical Theatre/Jazz Teacher

Claire has trained for many years in dance, specialising in Musical Theatre. She completed her Certificate IV in Elite Dance Performance at Village in Sydney, followed by a Diploma in Musical Theatre. She recently finished performing in the Auckland production of Mamma Mia, in which she was in the dance ensemble. Earlier this year she also took part in the Christchurch International Summer School Emerging Professionals Program, where she had the privilege of personal mentorship from Jonathan Groff (Glee, Mindhunter, original Broadway cast of Spring Awakening). She has been a qualified APDA teacher for the past 6 years & is excited to pass on her love of performing to the students at Interfusion!

Ezra-Thomas Holliday - Tap and Troupe Teacher

Ezra-Thomas grew up in Whangarei, and went to his first ballet class at 3. He loved dancing so much he hasn’t stopped since then. He is trained in Tap, ballet, jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, ballroom and latin However, his most proficient style of dance is Tap. He has an ear for the beats and rhythms, and loves to add other elements to his choreography. 

Abbie Rogers - Jazz/Contemporary/Hip hop

Abbie is a recent graduate of Unitec where she studied a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts, majoring in Contemporary Dance. She trained for three years, developing a range of skills in Teaching, Choreography and Dance Performance. She has worked with both Atamira Dance Company and Footnote New Zealand Dance as a dancer in 2018/19. Abbie started Jazz at the age of five before expanding her knowledge in Hip Hop then Contemporary Dance. Now with experience in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Ballet she is a dynamic teacher and choreographer. She loves playing groovy music each lesson for an awesome and fun atmosphere.

Julia Cooper - Jazz/Ballet and Acrobatics teacher

Julia was born in South Africa and started dancing at the age of 3. She then went on to do gymnastics at the Boksburg Gym & Tumbling Club for five years. Julia immigrated to New Zealand in 2008. She then started dancing hip hop and musical theatre at Dance Express and competed for two years. Julia moved to Interfusion Dance Studio in 2012. At Interfusion she has been trained in a range of styles including jazz, contemporary, lyrical and ballet. Since joining she has successfully performed as a lead in each end of year show. She has also competed in troupes, duets and solos. She has been awarded trophies for “Most Outstanding Student” and for her duet performances. Julia has been an assistant teacherat Interfusion for the last two years. Julia is now in her final year at Howick College. Last year she completed an NCEA Level 3 dance certificate and received excellence on her practical assessment. During 2017 Julia was selected to be part of the Howick College's Youdance performance. This dance group was nominated to perform at the 2017 Tempo festival. She has since gone on to receive her dance teachers certificate in Jazz in 2018. In 2019 she complete her Module 1 teachers certification in Acrobatic Arts.

Ashleigh Clark - Tap/Jazz/Contemporary Teacher (Releave teacher)

Ashleigh has a passion for dancing and performing. Starting ballet at the age of 5 and adding genre after genre as she grew up, Ashleigh developed a love for dance and performing. Throughout high school she choreographed and danced in many projects and items for the school wide dance showcase. Furthermore being involved in stage challenge and jrock from intermediate into high school. In 2012/2013 Ashleigh was an assistant teacher at her dance school at the time. In 2014, in her final year of high school, Ashleigh began taking her own classes at the Clevedon branch. In 2015, Ashleigh got into the Ettingshausens Performing Arts Programme in Sydney, Australia. Here she trained under many influential and famous Australian and world reknown choreographers such as Kelley Abbey, Veronica George, Stephen Tannos and Cat Santos. In Sydney, Ashleigh trained and workshopped with many industry professionals performing a Graduation Show at the end of the full time year, a piece in Australian Dance Festival and the Sydney Easter Show. In 2016, she returned to New Zealand, to begin a Bachelor in Teaching (Primary) and continue teaching a range of dance styles including Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Troupe and Lyrical. 
In June 2016, Ashleigh began working at Rainbows End as a contracted dancer and performer for six months. Here she was involved in the creation and choreography of the shows. In November 2017, Ashleigh Has also performed in the musical theatre 'Mamma Mia' in 2018.

Sophia Garofalakis - Assistant Acrobatics Teacher

Sophia currently attends Howick College and is in year 9. She has been attending Interfusion Dance Studio since she was 4 and is now 13.  She loves all styles of dance and has experience in Jazz and Contemporary. This year she will be starting ballet and keep working on her Acrobatics skills. She is always received the highest marks throughtout her exams. Last year she was pleased to receive the highest mark for the JazzAddict curriculum for Intermediate Jazz 2 and a Top 5 Tier mark for Contemporary Grade 7 throughout New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong. She has competed at different competitions throughout New Zealand and looking to travel overseas to compete in the near future. Apart from dance, her other interests include football, gymnastics and athletics.
